The Nelson Giants

We're down 12 points. Seven minutes left.  I don't know how we'll ever win this game.  Mika Vikona drives to the hoop and does a powerful lay up.

Three minutes left. Down by five points. We're edging closer. We steel the ball and sprint up the court.  Slam dunk. That was awesome.

I never thought we'd get this close to the opposition. It's the last 20 seconds of the game.  We need two points to draw and go into extra time.

5, 4, 3, 2 and we score!  It's amazing, we've come from 12 points down and now we're drawing.

Extra time starts. We steel the ball and dribble it to the hoop, but miss!  The Wellington Saints shoot,... they miss.  It rebounds off the rim. A Nelson Giant pounces on the ball, he dribbles and scores. We're in the lead.

They pass off and trick past a player of ours, go for the lay up and is fouled by a Giant. They have two shots. One goes in and the other misses. We need one point to win and there's 20 seconds on the clock.

One of our Giants bounces the ball outside the circle and runs up to the hoop with 3 seconds left.  He goes for the lay up and misses but Mika Vikona slams it down the throat of the hoop and we win.

Go Nelson Giants!
