Maths in a flash
Once a week, we do a Basic Facts test. So far Itamar and Albie have both got 100 out of 100. Who will be next?
Also in maths we have been trying to do our 3 times tables in under 12 seconds. That record is set by Whaea Aroha. Our student record is 19 seconds. Do you think you can do better? Give it a go.

Suspense In Our Writing
In Room 4 we have been learning how to add suspense in our sport writing. Here are some examples:
"The whistle strikes through my head. I stick on the opposition like tape. Every second counts, every defend helps, and every point adds up! Who will win?" Freya.
"He swooped through the water, hope filled in his heart." Itamar.
"People cheering for their house fills the air. I jump into the pool and everyone goes silent. Then "boom" the gun goes and then everyone screams once again." Xanthe.
Close Call
The trigger has been pulled.
The shot echoed through the entire school.
The houses finish in a flash with no sign of a winner .
(Jonathan's suspense story)
Support Purple Cake Day with us!
At NIS we are supporting Purple Cake Day by having a purple mufti day and making flags of hope. Everyone has written a wish for a child less fortunate than us. The Nelson Mail is coming to photograph our flags. We hope you support purple cake day too.
